Your funding conversation

A renovation plan deserves a funding conversation.

Jackson Brewster-Reed, Mortgage Adviser Associate to Steve McMenemy at Loan Market Universal, can explore what may be achievable based on your circumstances. Any loan remains subject to assessment, lender criteria and approval.

Jackson Brewster-Reed

Mortgage Adviser Associate to Steve McMenemy · Loan Market Universal

Jackson brings three years of prior real estate experience to his mortgage-advice work. His approach focuses on explaining lending options clearly and helping Auckland homeowners navigate the process.

For your renovation, Bestcare assesses the building work and Jackson handles the lending conversation. You remain in control of whether to proceed with either.

01

Mortgage top-up

An adviser may explore whether additional borrowing with your existing lender could support the project. Equity is one factor; affordability and lender requirements also matter.

02

Refinancing

An adviser may review whether a different loan structure or lender is suitable. Fees, break costs, loan term and total interest need consideration alongside repayments.

03

Construction lending

Larger structural projects may involve staged payments and lender requirements for contracts, valuations or inspections. Your adviser explains what applies to your project.

Two specialists.
One clearer brief.

Bestcare assesses the work. Your mortgage adviser assesses the lending pathway. You decide whether to proceed at each step.

You can use savings, an existing adviser or your own lender. A finance referral is optional and separate from a building agreement.

This preview does not accept finance applications or provide personalised financial advice. Jackson’s current disclosure guide, individual registration and provider relationship, and any referral arrangement still need confirmation before automated referrals open.
  1. 1. Scope the idea

Outline the proposed work and an approximate budget—or identify that a budget still needs developing.

  2. 2. Make a permitted introduction

With your permission, the team shares your project brief and contact details with the named adviser.

  3. 3. Discuss your circumstances privately

The adviser asks about income, commitments, lending and the property through their secure process.

  4. 4. Assess, apply and decide

If appropriate and you choose to proceed, the adviser manages an application. Final funding and building decisions remain separate.

Start with the project, not the paperwork.

You do not need to upload bank statements or identity documents to use the roadmap.

Renovation funding questions

Clear answers before your next step.

Can I use home equity to fund an Auckland renovation?

Possibly. A mortgage adviser can assess whether a mortgage top-up, refinancing or another suitable lending pathway may support your project. Equity alone does not establish borrowing capacity: your circumstances and lender requirements also matter. This website does not assess eligibility.

Should I speak to a builder or mortgage adviser first?

Start with an outline of the work and the main uncertainty. If scope and cost are unclear, begin with Bestcare. If funding is the concern, discuss your circumstances with Jackson alongside the building scope. Neither an indicative budget nor an initial discussion is finance approval.

Does RenoPossible lend money or guarantee approval?

No. Bestcare assesses the building work. Jackson Brewster-Reed at Loan Market provides the lending conversation. A lender assesses and decides any loan application. You can use your own savings, adviser or lender.

What should I prepare for the first conversation?

Bring the project type, suburb, priorities, preferred timing and any plans or approximate budget. Do not upload financial records to this website. Jackson can explain what documents are needed through his own secure process.

How do I check adviser fees and disclosures?

Ask Jackson for his current disclosure guide before proceeding. It should explain the relevant advice scope, provider details, fees, commissions and complaints process. His contact details are shown above; Loan Market Universal currently lists him as Mortgage Adviser Associate to Steve McMenemy. His individual registration and current disclosure guide still need to be checked directly.
